Omega-3
Chia has the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids than any other plant source on the planet. Studies show that omega-3 reduces inflammation and plays a critical role in brain function as well as normal growth and development. Omega-3 has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and arthritis.

Ideal Omega-3 to Omega-6 Ratio
Chia\Vie contains the heart healthy 3.3:1 ratio of ALA to LA, the perfect counterbalance to the Western diet. Omega-3, also known as ALA, is an Essential Fatty Acid, as is Omega-6, known as LA. These are called essential as the human body needs them for normal functionality, yet the body does not produce them. Omega-6 is readily available in the Western diet as it’s found in corn and soybean oils used prevalently in cooking, baking and frying. Omega-3 however is rarely found naturally in the Western diet, only derived from certain fish, and therefore should be supplemented. Omega-9 is a nonessential fatty acid, since it is produced naturally by the body. Omega-9 does not need to be supplemented.

Chia has more antioxidants than blueberries! Antioxidants are nutrients in our foods which can slow the oxidative damage to our body. When our body’s cells use oxygen, they naturally produce “free radicals” that cause damage to our tissues, including major organs and skin – which tend to accelerate the aging process.
Slows Digestion
Chia slows the impact of sugars on the system, if eaten together. Chia creates a physical barrier between carbohydrates and the digestive enzymes that break them down, which slows the conversion of carbs into sugar. That means the energy from the food is released steadily, resulting in more endurance.
Lower Cholesterol
The soluble fiber in chia has been found helpful in lowering cholesterol.
